| Overview: | EDB Investments (EDBI) was established in 1991 as the independent equity investment arm of Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB). Through its investments, it seeks to grow and catalyse new strategic industry pillars and strengthen existing engines of Singapore’s economy. Currently, it invests in the high growth sectors of Biomedical Sciences, Clean Technologies, Digital Media and other economically strategic industries. EDBI invests to create globally competitive and sustainable companies. EDBI also partners local and global multinational companies in their Singapore-based investments that have a substantial impact on industry development. We make strategic direct equity investments that allow our partners to strike the appropriate balance between risk and reward while accelerating their growth plans. EDBI has been an active investor in enhancing and sustaining the strategic competitiveness of Singapore, one of the world's most vibrant economies. EDBI currently holds stakes in diverse sectors spanning Biomedical Sciences, Chemicals, Electronics, Info Communications, Precision Engineering and Transport Engineering. We have invested in over 240 companies since our inception. Investments in our current portfolio include Chartered Silicon Partners, Chevron Phillips Singapore Chemicals, Lucasfilm Animation, Lonza Tuas, and S*Bio (a drug discovery and development company founded in Singapore). |
