Co-founded Compass Partners in 1997 and has over 30 years of experience providing international strategic and financial advice to corporations, institutional investors, sovereign governments and private families. Established Compass Advisers as an independant advisory firm in August 2001. Was with Morgan Stanley from 1988 to 1996, serving as Co-Head of Mergers and Acquisitions from 1990 to 1992, and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Europe from 1992 to 1996. Was a member of Morgan Stanley`s worldwide 12-person Operating committee. Joined Morgan Stanley from Lehman Brothers, where he served as Co-Head of Mergers and Acquisitions from 1985 to 1988, having co-founded that department in 1977 and become a partner in 1980. Was an officer in the US Navy from 1972 to 1974, serving aboard three destroyers. Director of Boston Private Financial Holdings, Vice Chairman of the United States Naval Institute and of the Harvard College Fund, and Chairman of the Compass European Equity Fund. Member of the Harvard Dean`s Council, Board of Visitors to Harvard Business School and the Princeton Theological Seminary`s Investment Committee. Graduated with honors, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Harvard College. Baker Scholar at Harvard Business School.
