Tadataka Yamada

Bio

Dr. Yamada works with both the growth equity and venture capital teams to create, identify and vet investment opportunities in the U.S. and in emerging markets. He served as a Senior Advisor to Frazier Healthcare starting in 2006 and increased his level of involvement with the firm in June 2011 when he assumed his current role. From 2006 to June 2011, Dr. Yamada was the President of the Global Health Program for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he led the foundation’s efforts to develop and deliver life-saving therapies in the developing world. Prior to the Gates Foundation, Dr. Yamada served as Chairman of R&D at GlaxoSmithKline, where he oversaw worldwide pharmaceutical research and development; he also served as a member of the GSK Board of Directors. Dr. Yamada is a past President of the American Gastroenterological Association and the Association of American Physicians, a Master of the American College of Physicians, a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science in the United States, and the Academy of Medical Sciences in the United Kingdom. Dr. Yamada is a graduate of Stanford University and received his medical degree from New York University.
