Mr. Friedman is a co-founder of Monumental Venture Partners, LLC, the general partner to MVP America, LP. He has been instrumental in all aspects of managing Monumental Venture Partners, LLC. He has made key contributions and is responsible for portfolio management, fundraising, investor relations and reporting. Mr. Friedman has been the lead on all of MVP America, LP's investments and has been responsible for valuing, structuring, negotiating and closing transactions including Series A financings and convertible debt issues. In addition, he has represented MVP America, LP's interests in the acquisitions of Cinea and Telverse as well as the Series B financing of EyeTel. Mr. Friedman has 20 years of corporate experience, including 8 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and venture capital. Prior to co-founding Monumental Venture Partners, LLC, he spent over 9 years with MCI Communications from 1990 to 1999. In 1997, Mr. Friedman established MCI New Ventures, MCI's corporate venturing group. MCI New Ventures pioneered the use of performance warrants with vendor contracts. He managed MCI New Ventures from December 1997 to February 1999 and generated an IRR of 150%, contributing over $60 million of pre-tax gain. While at MCI, Mr. Friedman was the lead negotiator charged with closing deals, and had additional responsibilities that included deal structure, valuation analysis, technical and market due diligence, and intellectual property evaluation. Prior to creating MCI New Ventures, from October 1993 to December 1997, Mr. Friedman was a Senior Financial Analyst with MCI's Mergers and Acquisitions Group, where he was responsible for valuing, structuring and negotiating acquisitions of local, long distance, international, wireless, and Internet companies. In this role, Mr. Friedman evaluated numerous of mergers and acquisitions opportunities and closed multiple transactions ranging in value between $5 million and $1.35 billion. Examples of transactions that Mr. Friedman materially contributed to include: News Corporation, British Telecom, NextWave, Genesys Telecommunications and Darome Teleconferencing. Mr. Friedman also has held positions as a Systems Analyst and Software Developer in the Information Technology industry. Mr. Friedman serves on the board of three of MVP America, LP's portfolio companies: Digital Sandbox, Inc., GroupServe IP Trust, LLC, and JB Cubed, Inc. In addition, Mr. Friedman also served on the board of Cinea, Inc. through its successful acquisition by Dolby Laboratories, Inc. and EyeTel Imaging, Inc. through its Series B financing. Mr. Friedman earned both a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia in 1984 and an MBA in finance from the George Washington University in 1991.
