Bio

Robert most recently led the formation and successful development of Merrill Lynch Capital from its inception in 2001 until its 2008 sale to GE Capital, during which he was responsible for all aspects of the business. Robert and his team grew Merrill Lynch Capital into a leading middle-market commercial finance company managing $20 billion of loan commitments on its balance sheet and another $12 billion for third parties. Prior to forming Merrill Lynch Capital, Robert held senior positions with Heller Financial, Inc., including Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development responsible for the company’s worldwide strategic planning, business development and M&A. Robert also served as Group President of Heller Healthcare Finance, the company’s third largest division, and played an instrumental role in structuring and negotiating Heller’s 2001 sale to GE Capital for $5.6 billion. Robert’s background also includes of a number of executive positions with The Finova Group, a middle-market commercial finance company, most recently as Executive Vice President and head of the Capital Markets Group. Robert holds an M.B.A. from the University of Santa Clara and a B.S. from Syracuse University.
