Bio

Sam has been involved in the commercialization of technology since 1991. As an academic polymer scientist since 1980, he partnered with Teddy Shalon to create and run BioPolymerix, a company founded to develop new ophthalmic technologies. Since BioPolymerix, Sam has been a cofounder in six other companies (Surfacine Development Company, Intelligent Biocides, Synteni, Neosil, AirXpanders, Osteogenix) devoted to medical and pharmaceutical technologies. Sam is the primary inventor on a number of patents in the life sciences arena and has been actively involved in creating robust intellectual property estates for companies that he has worked with. Sam has a PhD in Polymer Science and is an active faculty member at the University of Massachusetts.
